Elklan are a nationally recognised training organisation who specialise in training in speech, language and communication needs for parents, carers, professionals and educational settings.
We are regularly offer their courses including:
- Speech and language support for 0-3 year olds

- Speech and language support for 5-11 year olds
- Speech and language support for 11-16 year olds

We also offer Elklan parent courses including ‘Let’s Talk with Under 5’s
and can support schools to achieve Communication friendly School status via Elklan.
Elklan courses can be delivered as twilight training or over 2-3 full days.
We run courses centrally in Scarborough but can also do whole school training in your own setting. Please contact us for more information.
FAQs
The main Elklan courses are delivered over 10 webinars (usually weekly for a term). You are also asked to complete a learning log which will be marked and may be moderated. The learning log is to help you put your learning into practise and is made up of tasks to complete with your children.
Yes, Elklan courses are assessed and moderated at either Level 2 or 3 (equivalent to a GCSE or an A Level). This qualification is given by OCN (open college network) and is recognised nationally in health and education.
No, you can opt to just come to the sessions and not complete the learning log. This makes the course less hours and slightly cheaper but you would not have a formal qualification at the end.
You would be able to come to the webinars but not complete the learning log and get the qualification. This is because these tasks are about putting your learning into practice.
Yes, if you contact us we can give you a quote to host a course. The course needs 8 people to run and is usually capped at 20 participants. If you do not need 20 places we can support you to sell places to recoup some of your costs.
Yes, Elklan have ‘Let’s Talk’ course which are targeted at parents. These are usually run over 7 1 hour sessions and have lots of practical ideas for supporting your child’s communication development.
If you are interested in Elklan training but we do not have any current courses please let us know. We do hold a waiting list and when we have enough interest we will arrange a course and publicise it.
