Seaside SaLT provides specialist training for schools and nurseries to help staff support children with speech, language and communication differences. Our sessions build confidence in recognising early signs of difficulty and using practical strategies that help children communicate and thrive.
We offer training on a wide range of topics, including:
- Typical Speech and Language Milestones from birth to 18
- Communication‑friendly schools / settings
- Supporting children who are pre‑verbal
- Supporting children who are Gestalt Language Processors
- Understanding information carrying words
- Using Colourful Semantics Intervention to support language and literacy
- Understanding Blank level Questions
- Building vocabulary skills
- Using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Developmental Language Disorder
- Typical Speech sound development
- Supporting Children with Speech Sound Difficulties
- Receptive and expressive language needs in secondary schools
- Selective Mutism
- Dysfluency
- Makaton / British Sign Language
These sessions can be run as 30 min tasters or 1-2 hour workshops. They can be delivered as a twilight training or as part of a training day. 3-4 topics can be put together to put a full day’s training together. Please contact us to book or for more information about pricing etc.
We also offer formal Elklan training leading to nationally recognised qualifications.
FAQs
Yes, if you contact us we can give you a quote to host a course. If you buy our SLT service into school regularly that package may include free training.
Our twilight/ training day courses are usually capped at 25 people. If you have more than that contact us and we can discuss the best approach. If you have small group of less than 6 staff we can produce bespoke informal training focussing on a specific child’s needs or how to deliver a specific intervention or therapy plan.
Yes, if you do not need 25 places we can support you to sell places to other settings to recoup some costs.
Always contact us to discuss your training needs. We can usually adapt or develop topics to meet your requirements.
Yes, we can deliver practical sessions for parents or contribute to SEND events such as coffee mornings etc. We have an extensive range of free downloadable advice leaflets on our website which can be shared with parents.
